There’s a quiet shift happening across Incline Village right now.

Bright yellow daffodils are beginning to emerge along roadways, outside businesses, and throughout neighborhoods - one of the first clear signs that spring is arriving in Tahoe.

This year, those blooms mean something more. They are the early results of “Dancing With Daffodils,” a community-wide effort led by the Incline Village Crystal Bay Community & Business Association (IVCBA) to bring more beauty and cohesion to Incline Village and Crystal Bay. [LINK]

Last fall, IVCBA invited residents, businesses, and landscapers to participate by planting bulbs across town, providing them free of charge to make participation simple and accessible. 

Daffodils were chosen intentionally. They are among the first flowers to bloom in the Sierra, often pushing through lingering snow in April and May. They’re also incredibly resilient, and once planted, they return and multiply year after year.

“Dancing With Daffodils” is one piece of the broader Incline Village Main Street Beautification campaign, which includes projects like Gateway Roundabout improvements, community gathering spaces, and seasonal lighting, as well as Inclined to Bloom, which placed hanging flower baskets and terra cotta planters in commercial areas. 

The impact is already noticeable. A cluster of yellow here. A line of blooms there. Small moments that, together, create a stronger sense of place. And over time, as these bulbs return and multiply, they’ll continue to shape the look, and feel, of Incline Village each spring.

What’s emerging this spring is more than a seasonal bloom - it’s a reflection of a community investing in itself. Thoughtful, intentional, and designed to last. And as these daffodils return year after year, they’ll serve as a simple but lasting reminder that even small efforts, when shared, can shape the experience of an entire place.
