Diamond Peak Announces Early Closure for 2025–26 Season

Diamond Peak will officially close its 60th anniversary ski season on March 29, 2026 - earlier than anticipated following a winter shaped by warmer temperatures and below-average snowfall. While milestone seasons often bring extended celebrations, this year has been a reminder of how dynamic, and at times unpredictable, winters in Lake Tahoe can be.

After opening later than usual, the resort worked throughout the season to maintain conditions and keep terrain accessible. As spring arrived ahead of schedule, operations have now shifted to the lower mountain, where lifts and beginner-friendly terrain will remain open through closing day. Despite the shortened season, Diamond Peak is still planning to close out the year with its signature events, including the Dummy Downhill and a festive, community-focused final weekend.

The early closure at Diamond Peak is not an isolated occurrence. Several Tahoe-area resorts have already ended their seasons or adjusted their projected closing dates, reflecting a broader trend across the Sierra this year. While higher-elevation resorts are expected to remain open longer, the overall season has been more compressed than what many have come to expect.

For homeowners, buyers, and those considering a move to Incline Village or Crystal Bay, this season underscores an important aspect of Tahoe living: the lifestyle here is deeply connected to the natural environment. While winter sports are a major draw, the region’s appeal extends well beyond ski season - offering year-round recreation, from hiking and biking to boating and golf.

In many ways, an early transition into spring simply means more time to enjoy Tahoe in a different light. And for those who call this place home, that seasonal shift is part of what makes living here so unique.
