The Incline Village General Improvement District is entering a pivotal moment in how solid waste services are delivered across Incline Village and Crystal Bay.

With its current franchise agreement with Waste Management nearing expiration, IVGID is actively gathering input from the community to help shape what comes next. A newly released survey invites both residents and business owners to share their experience with current garbage and recycling services, as well as their expectations for the future.

While these agreements often operate quietly in the background, they influence daily life in meaningful ways - from service reliability and environmental impact to long-term cost structure and operational standards. This is one of the few opportunities for the community to directly inform those outcomes.

Survey responses will be compiled and presented to the IVGID Board of Trustees as part of the decision-making process. Feedback will serve as supplemental material as negotiations progress, helping to ensure that the next agreement reflects the needs and priorities of the community it serves.

Any new agreement must also align with Nevada state requirements under NRS 444 and 444A, as well as Washoe County District Board of Health regulations. These standards ensure consistent service, including mandatory collection for all properties at least once every seven days.
