One of the things I love most about living in Incline Village is the way our community comes together. The Fourth of July isn't just about fireworks. It's neighbors catching up over pancakes, kids proudly decorating their bikes for the parade, families spending the afternoon at the lake, and ending the day looking out across Lake Tahoe as fireworks light up the sky.
This year feels even more special as our country celebrates America's 250th birthday.
After months of anticipation, Tahoe Fireworks has announced that a professionally produced fireworks display will take place over Lake Tahoe on July 4th. While this year's celebration won't feature a centralized public viewing event, the display is expected to be visible from many locations throughout Incline Village, Crystal Bay, and the North Shore.
What I especially love is that the fireworks are just one part of an incredible holiday weekend.
The celebration actually begins on Thursday, July 2nd, with the Incline Tahoe Foundation SummerFest at UNR Lake Tahoe, featuring games, music, food, and family fun, followed by the Tahoe Philharmonic – Pops & Patriotic Songs concert, a wonderful way to kick off the holiday weekend under the stars.
On Friday, July 3rd, one of my favorite community traditions returns. Start your morning at the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District's Flag Raising and Pancake Breakfast before lining Southwood Boulevard for the Kids' Bike Parade and the Local Heroes Parade. Be sure to wave if you spot the Casa Tua team rolling by in our Moke! Afterward, head over to the Local Heroes Community Fair, where you'll find local nonprofits, community organizations, carnival games, a BBQ, Washoe County Sheriff's Office vehicles on display, and of course, Susie Scoops' annual Ice Cream Eating Contest.
Then comes Saturday, July 4th. Ease into the day with the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Veterans Club Pancake Breakfast before enjoying the free community BBQ at Incline Beach, courtesy of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. As the sun begins to set, make your way to Ski Beach to enjoy live music from local favorite Jacked Up Tahoe, then settle in at your favorite viewing spot and enjoy fireworks over one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the world. (Please note that access to Incline Beach requires an IVGID Picture Pass or Recreation Pass.)
If you're visiting for the weekend, be sure to allow extra travel time, follow all lake safety restrictions, and review the fireworks safety information before heading out.
Weekends like this remind me why I love helping people find their home in Incline Village. Yes, the scenery is spectacular. But it's the traditions, the people, and the sense of community that truly make this place special.
Happy Fourth of July! I hope to see many of you out enjoying another unforgettable summer in Tahoe.
